Thinking Inside the Box

Posted: January 12, 2011 in Writing/Publishing

It’s time to start thinking inside the box again. Like we did when we were kids.

Did you ever find a big cardboard box and just let your imagination run wild? Sure you did. In fact, I bet you even had more fun playing with some boxes than you did the presents that came in them.

Remember? A box could be the beginning of a fort. A race car. A fairy castle. A time machine ready to whisk you off to watch Buffalo Bill’s Wild West Show. A box could be the spaceship that transported you to a solar system far from the one where we live.

The more I hear people talk about thinking outside the box the more I wonder why anyone would want to limit themselves to outside. Inside the box is where the real creativity thrived. That’s where all the flashing lights, gizmos and wonders were.

Inside the box is where the magic was.
