Something to Ponder

Sorry to be away so long. I’ve been in the Caribbean for about three weeks and the Internet connection was spotty at best (and sloooow) most of the time.

Anyhoo … while not writing related, this struck me as important.

Sunday morning I was listening to a really good sermon at church and the pastor (Ray Wittman) was talking about Adam & Eve. While he was talking about the fact that they did not die after they disobeyed God and ate from the tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil something occurred to me. This is the first place in the Bible where God shows mercy.

Instead of death, God allowed them to live. He still punished them as a way of reminding them of the consequences of their actions, but He did not withdraw from them completely. He still loved them. And because of that love, He was merciful.

And that mercy extends to the rest of us.

  1. Thomas Smith says:

Thank you for the kind words (as usual) Vie.

  2. Peter says:

That is good insight as always. Good to see you back…Adam and Eve did fall though, I thought for some reason you might be writing about falling today. :^)

  3. That is a powerful insight. We serve an awesome God whose mercy and grace are beyond understanding. Thanks for sharing.
